Shinedown’s debut studio album, “Leave a Whisper,” marked a powerful entry into the rock music scene. Released on May 27, 2003, the album gained traction through the success of its hit singles, notably “Fly from the Inside” and “45.” Recorded at renowned studios in Los Angeles, including Henson Recording Studios and The Blue Room, “Leave a Whisper” set the stage for Shinedown’s subsequent triumphs, particularly their second album, “Us and Them.” The album’s re-release on June 15, 2004, featured a cover version of Lynyrd Skynyrd’s classic “Simple Man.” The singles from “Leave a Whisper” also achieved notable success, with “Fly from the Inside” reaching No. 5, “45” reaching No. 3, “Simple Man” reaching No. 5, and “Burning Bright” reaching No. 2 on the US Mainstream Rock chart.

The album itself became Shinedown’s second best-selling record, receiving a gold certification for 500,000 copies sold on August 17, 2004, and eventually reaching platinum status with one million copies sold in the US by October 21, 2005, according to the RIAA.

Four singles were released from the album, “Cut the Cord”, “State of My Head”, “Asking for It”, and “How Did You Love”. “Black Cadillac” was also released as a promotional song prior to the album’s release as well.
