The third studio album, an amazing one, by TLC, entitled FanMail, was released on 23rd February 1999. This album marked a major comeback since the group had been apart for several years. It rose to number one on the US Billboard 200 and moved 318,000 copies in its opening week, eventually attaining six-time platinum status in the US. With its innovative “cyber-R&B” sound, FanMail is deeply indebted to futurism and technology, as in chart-toppers like “No Scrubs” and “Unpretty.” The album won three Grammys out of eight nominations and to date has sold over 10 million copies worldwide. 3D” is the fourth studio album by TLC, released on October 10, 2002, in unusually tearful circumstances for the group. Recording ran from May 2001 to July 2002, and, even more tragically, it was a process during which the member Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes died in April of 2002. Even so, the album managed to put together new songs from the remaining solo unreleased tracks of Lopes, such as “Quickie,” “Girl Talk,” and “Who’s It Gonna Be?” The album’s sound was also a bolstering collaboration with a set of leading producers like Dallas Austin, Babyface, Rodney Jerkins, and Timbaland. TLC is the fifth and final studio album by American girl group TLC. It was released on June 30, 2017. It has been 15 years since their last album, 3D. The album keeps a pop and R&B sound, with the added touch of ’90s nostalgia. Funded by a Kickstarter campaign, it opened with 12,000 units to debut at number 38 on the Billboard 200. It included the single “Way Back,” featuring Snoop Dogg, which reached the Top 10 on the Billboard Adult R&B chart. The album received favorable reviews from music critics, who attested that while the album involved its familiar ‘throwback’ feelings, it did not fully capture the magic and glory of their work in the past. Re-recorded hits included on a deluxe edition, issued only in the UK, proved the continued relevance of the group.
