The album was released on 27 October 2023. Zig is Poppy’s fifth studio album. The album was produced by Ali Payami, and it returns to a more pop release with industrial and electronic elements that separate it from her work on her earlier rock and metal sound. The album features 11 tracks selected from more than 40 original demos, and Zig is Poppy’s path through self-discovery and artistic development. The sixth studio album by Poppy, “Negative Spaces”, is a work out through Sumerian Records, and it was released on November 15, 2024. Produced by Jordan Fish, former keyboardist for Bring Me the Horizon, this album will blend metalcore, industrial, synth-pop, and arena rock. It will be Poppy’s second work of 2023, following on from her album Zig, often regarded as its conceptual sequencer. Raw lyrics about self-doubt and motivational struggles garnered some praise from critics, and tracks like “They’re All Around Us” and “The Cost of Giving Up.” This does indeed bring about the evolution of Poppy’s sound, embracing some aspects of hyperpop, and becomes one of the most-awaited metal records of 2024.
