Gerri Halliwell released her debut solo album Schizophonic in June 1999, three years after she left the Spice Girls in 1998. In the name of her album she summarises her schizo and phonic elements which translate to a different influence. All her singles from the album got a good following and reached number one on the UK singles chart: “Mi Chico Latino,” “Lift Me Up,” and “Bag It Up.”. The lead single, “Look at Me,” climbed to number two. Commercially, Schizophonic proved to be very successful: it sold over two million copies throughout the world up to 2001 and received Platinum ratings in the UK, Canada, and the US.

Scream If You Wanna Go Faster is the second solo album by the singer and was released on May 14, 2001 through EMI Records. With her debut Schizophonic having been so commercially successful, this one brought her quite a few top-line collaborations to work with; several of its producers and writers, including Gregg Alexander and Rick Nowels, among others, can be credited for it. Although the lead single “It’s Raining Men” was a huge smash hit, topping charts and even making an appearance in Bridget Jones’s Diary, the set generally had mixed to negative reviews overall. Criticism of the album arose over Halliwell’s vocal range and the formulaic production. Despite this, the album was a moderate success and received a Gold certification in the UK, along with two singles, “Scream If You Wanna Go Faster” and “Calling.”

Geri Halliwell’s third studio album is titled Passion, released on June 6, 2005 by Innocent Records. Said to have been highly anticipated, Passion bombed commercially, reaching no higher than number 41 on the UK Albums Chart and selling only 10,000 copies in the UK after it had been out for a year. The album produced two singles: “Ride It,” a top-five hit in the UK, and “Desire,” which made it to number 22. Even though Halliwell’s vocals were much improved, mixed reviews filled the pages of the critical press; critics praised the dance-pop cuts but skewered the jazzier pieces and uneven songwriting.
Conclusion:
Geri Halliwell’s solo career, characterized through three albums, demonstrates and embodies her vibrant development beyond the Spice Girls. Beginning with Schizophonic (1999), delivering UK chart-toppers such as “Mi Chico Latino” and “Bag It Up,” she soon set herself in a successful position as the solo pop performer. Her second, Scream If You Wanna Go Faster (2001), saw the killer hit of “It’s Raining Men.” Although having one more try with Passion (2005), it didn’t fare much better commercially, with the single “Ride It.” The tour through Geri Halliwell Albums in Order traces her brilliant rise, then her fall into mainstream oblivion.
