Produced by John Feldmann, it placed at number 35 on the Billboard 200 and set a record for the genre—somewhere between post-hardcore and rock music. It got mixed reviews from critics. The album was fueled by a very left-field promotional campaign in which, via a Buzznet page, fans unlocked the record’s first track, “The Flood.” A pair of notable music videos accompanied the album’s singles: “This War Is Ours (The Guillotine II)” and “10 Miles Wide.” And many more content pieces from the album’s deluxe edition, released in 2010 with new tracks and a behind-the-scenes DVD, further prolonged its lifespan.

This record varies in sound, with the lyrics and tone being much darker and heavier than the previous albums. Craig Mabbitt brought power to the band, and producer Don Gilmore aided in creating that dynamic sound. The lyrics are from all aspects: personal struggles to broader social issues, which proves further evolution and maturity of the band.

This album is titled with the inclusion of the title track “Ungrateful”, and was supported by a co-headlining tour with Attack Attack!, as well as music videos and festival performance. “Ungrateful” would go on to receive mixed reviews, but have notable chart performance, debuting at number 27 on the Billboard 200 and performing well on many genre-specific charts.

Tracks like “Beautifully Tragic” and “Bleed for Me” weave a thread of personal struggle and survival into the album. With the added high-energy “Riot” and emotionally charged “I Am Human,” the band shows their dynamic range and commitment to the music. 10. Ashes (Broken World)
  11. My Gravity
  12. Walk On

Released on April 16, 2021, Chemical Warfare is the seventh studio album taken in by Escape the Fate, which has turned out to be pretty dynamic in their discography. Produced by John Feldmann and lead guitarist Kevin Gruft, the album does justice to the sound of the band, which identifies more with the elements of rock, metal, and electronic components. With “Lightning Strike,” “Invincible” featuring Lindsey Stirling, and the title track “Chemical Warfare” as its lead tracks, the album expresses themes of resilience and standing up against all odds. Even at high energy and with versatile sound, the record received mixed reviews, as some critics didn’t like its execution or its direction. On the whole, Chemical Warfare is a bolder, more divisive turn in the evolution of Escape the Fate.

  18. Weight of the World
  19. Bloodline
  20. Half Breed
  21. Out of the Shadows
  22. Rather Be Dead

“Out of the Shadows,” released on September 1, 2023, marks Escape the Fate’s eighth studio album, and it’s an enormous shift in sound. Adding Matti Hoffman to the mix on guitar and Erik Jensen on bass brings a whole new dynamic to this band. Produced by John Feldmann, the record couples “Forgive Me” and “Choke,” which are hard-hitting and rather emotional in depth, much like this band is wont. With Kevin Gruft having left the group, this still sheds a very obvious influence in at least three of the tracks, showing his continued input into how the band functions creatively. Right out of the box, it gets a boost with the deluxe “Out of the Shadows 2.0” edition, featuring such bonus tracks as “Dearly Departed,” which comes with Bert McCracken, really adding dimension to what was already a great set.

Conclusion:

“Escape the Fate Albums in Order” shows the rollercoaster ride this American rock band has been through—from the early days of Ronnie Radke up until the powerful contributions Craig Mabbitt brought to the table. Each of the albums shows a developing stage of their career from the very first “Dying Is Your Latest Fashion” to the latest “Out of the Shadows.” With so many lineup changes and personal misfortures, Escape the Fate was able to give the world powerful music at all times. Their discography has resilience and development engraved within it, capturing the hearts of their fans with every new release that secures a long-lasting legacy in rock music.
